Warranty & Consumer Rights Policy

Effective date: 8 September 2026

Products supplied by MowBot may include manufacturer warranties.

A manufacturer’s warranty is additional to and does not replace rights available under New Zealand law.

Manufacturer warranties

Warranty periods and coverage vary according to:

  • manufacturer;
  • model;
  • component;
  • battery;
  • accessory; and
  • product generation.

Please refer to the warranty information applicable to your product.

Consumer Guarantees Act

Where the CGA applies, products are subject to statutory guarantees including acceptable quality and reasonable durability.

There is no single fixed CGA warranty period for every mower or component.

Whether a product has lasted a reasonable period depends on matters including:

  • product type;
  • purchase price;
  • age;
  • operating hours;
  • usage;
  • maintenance;
  • representations made at sale; and
  • nature of the failure.

Therefore, expiry of a manufacturer’s written warranty does not automatically mean that a customer’s CGA rights have ended.

Warranty assessment

MowBot may reasonably require:

  • proof of purchase;
  • serial number;
  • photographs or video;
  • diagnostic information;
  • service history;
  • fault codes; and
  • access to the product.

Relevant information may need to be supplied to the manufacturer or distributor.

Remedies

The appropriate remedy depends on the circumstances and applicable law.

Where a failure can be remedied and the CGA permits the supplier an opportunity to fix it, MowBot may provide an appropriate repair.

Where a failure is of substantial character or other statutory requirements are met, different remedies may be available.

On-site warranty visits

A manufacturer warranty does not necessarily mean that every optional on-site attendance is included without charge.

Depending on the circumstances, MowBot may offer workshop assessment, customer drop-off, collection or on-site attendance.

Where an optional on-site attendance fee applies, it will be disclosed before booking.

MowBot will not impose an attendance, diagnosis or transport charge where doing so would unlawfully require a consumer to bear the cost of obtaining a CGA remedy that MowBot is legally required to provide.

Wear and maintenance

Blades and consumables require routine replacement.

Other components can wear according to operating hours and conditions.

Normal wear is not necessarily a manufacturing defect.

However, calling a component a "wear item" does not automatically remove CGA rights if it has failed earlier than would reasonably be expected in the circumstances.

Replacement parts and repairs

Replacement parts may carry an applicable manufacturer or supplier warranty.

Repair services provided by MowBot are also subject to applicable statutory guarantees.

Repairing or replacing one component does not necessarily restart the original manufacturer’s warranty for the entire mower unless the applicable warranty says otherwise.

Unauthorised repairs and modifications

A manufacturer may decline its contractual warranty where a failure was caused by unauthorised alteration or repair.

This does not automatically remove statutory rights relating to an unrelated defect.
